The Great Southern Business Awards (GSBA) are now open for nominations.

These Awards have been celebrating excellence, innovation, and resilience across the region’s vibrant business community for over 29 Years. 

Businesses and individuals that operate or reside within the Great Southern region are encouraged to apply or nominate their fellow businesses and colleagues for one of 16 award categories. From trailblazing entrepreneurs to standout employees, these awards recognise the outstanding achievements that help shape the Great Southern economy.

Nominations close Friday 1 August. Nominees are then invited to submit their Award-winning applications before Friday 29 August.

How It Works

  • Step 1 – Nominate
    Anyone can nominate a business or businessperson who resides and operates within the Great Southern. Simply click the 'Nominate now' button and let us know who deserves recognition. Employers can also nominate outstanding staff for categories such as Employee of the Year or Trainee of the Year.

  • Step 2 – Application
    Once nominated, the business or individual will be notified and invited to complete a formal application (up to three award categories) that best reflects their work. Businesses can also self-nominate and proceed straight to the application stage.

Awards Ceremony

Winners will be announced and finalists celebrated at the Gala Awards Dinner on Saturday 1 November – a night to honour the region’s best and brightest.

The theme this year is ‘Classic Elegance’ with a black and white dress code and theme.

  • This award is for tourism businesses who demonstrate excellence within the Great Southern tourism sector, for example providing a unique and exceptional experience, product, package or value add to another business, helping to showcase our region.

  • This award category celebrates a business that demonstrates excellent environmentally sustainable practices and fosters positive culture for and around it’s people (customers and team alike). Examples include zero-no waste, the use of green energy, or the use of environmentally sustainable natural resource management strategies/people focused incentives and design that turns their workplace or product into a more than just a job to go to or something to spend your money on.

  • This award celebrates outstanding contributions to food production, encompassing both growers of fresh produce and producers of exceptional food items, including livestock farmers, cheesemakers, and beyond. This award category celebrates a business that demonstrates progressive, and sustainable growing or producing practices. Examples include eco-conscious or regenerative farmers, innovative use of tech.

  • This award celebrates excellence in Indigenous-led businesses making a positive impact in their field or community.

  • The Love Local Award celebrates businesses that go above and beyond to support the Great Southern region by prioritising local suppliers, services, and partnerships. This award recognises the company that has spent the largest portion of its expenses within the region, contributing to economic growth, sustainability, and a thriving local business network.

  • This award recognises businesses that have has been operating for no more than two years and are demonstrating excellence in business practice and business growth.

  • This award is to recognise outstanding achievement and contribution by an individual aged 35 years or under on 30 June 2025.

  • This prestigious award recognises the business that has made the most outstanding overall contribution across all aspects of operation, innovation, impact and leadership in the Great Southern region. 

    The judges will select the Great Southern Business of the Year from the pool of business* award winners.
