Celebrating Business
2022 marked the 130th anniversary for the Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
Originating on 28 November 1892, the first meeting of the Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry was chaired by the mayor, Mr John McKenzie, with founding president John Moir in the Albany Town Hall.
The Chamber’s mission in 1892 was to watch over and protect the general interest of commerce, collect information on all matters of interest to the commercial community, use every means within its power to minimise and reduce grievances within business, and to promote trade of the local economy.
These initial ideals set the foundation for what the Albany Chamber represents today; advocacy, connectivity, and community. The Albany Chamber represents over 500 businesses in the Great Southern region and works towards creating a stronger business community and economy, while striving to create a collaborative business region.
The ACCI, as we know it today, is a huge part of Albany’s history and we continue to serve our members and celebrate the thriving business community we have today. We have honoured many life members over the years. View Honourary Members list here.
Honorary Life Membership
The Executive Committee believes in the importance of acknowledging the contributions made by people to the Chamber and / or the Great Southern business region.
These people are often making a quiet contribution and volunteering their time for the betterment of the regional economy and community.
All nominations will be considered by the Executive Committee and successful nominations will be officially endorsed. Life Members will be acknowledged at the series of celebrations for the Chamber’s 130th anniversary.
