School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships provide students aged 15 years or older with valuable employment skills, hands-on industry experience and a nationally recognised qualification, while still completing secondary school qualifications.

How does a School-Based Traineeship work?
A school-based apprenticeship is a team effort, between:
Employer (hires the student part time)
Registered Training Organisation (RTO) – provides accredited training
School – supports the adjusted work and study schedule for the student
Student – attends employment hours and school, completes accredited training component. (NB Parental consent required)
Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Provider (AASN) – helps with information on eligibility and helps the student and employer register the apprenticeship and apply for incentives (where available)
